Legislative update by AAIA: FUTURE STRENGTH OF THE INDEPENDENT AFTERMARKET
Actions by OEM’s to limit access to the tools and service information needed to work on today’s highly computerized vehicles affect not only automobiles, but have become an  issue for servicing heavy duty vehicles as well.  Yet, much of the attention has focused primarily on efforts to ensure competition in the light duty aftermarket.  This session will:

  • Provide an overview of the current debate over the Motor Vehicle Owners Right to Repair Act that is currently ongoing in the U.S. Congress and in many states;
  • Discuss recent rulemakings by both California and Federal agencies to address service information issues for heavy duty emissions systems; and
  • Provide insights into strategies needed to ensure the future strength of the independent heavy duty aftermarket.

Aaron Lowe, VP Government Affairs and Lee Kadrich, VP Government Affairs and Trade at AAIA will give us this report from Washington.

Featured Keynote Address by Brooks Robinson
From the time Brooks Robinson made his Major League debut in 1955 until he retired as a player in 1977, Brooks added a new dimension to the position he played. Known as “The Human Vacuum Cleaner,” it has been said that he was the best third baseman to ever play the game. During his tenure, the Baltimore Orioles had the best record in all of baseball. In 1983, Brooks was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot with 91.88% of the votes.

Those who have lived in the Baltimore area have had the distinct opportunity to see him play for his only team. Now is your chance to be inspired by a baseball legend.
