CVSN-HDDA-AAIA Agreement Unites Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket Distributors
CVSN and HDDA Strengthen Government Affairs
AMELIA ISLAND, FL – September 14, 2009 – The Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) have reached an agreement whereby AAIA will provide management services with a focus on government affairs representation to CVSN effective immediately. The agreement will unify commercial vehicle aftermarket distributor members of CVSN with the Heavy Duty Distribution Association (HDDA), a segment of AAIA on key issues and challenges in the heavy duty aftermarket.
The announcement was made today during the Aftermarket Distribution Summit, presented by CVSN, Truck Parts & Service and HDX, held in Amelia Island, Florida.
“CVSN is very excited about its new management agreement with HDDA and AAIA,” said Ken Duval, President of Canadian Wheel and outgoing CVSN President. “Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week has shown us that by working together we can bring enhanced value to our members.”
“By uniting CVSN and HDDA under the AAIA government affairs umbrella, commercial vehicle aftermarket distributors will have a single and more powerful voice in the legislative and regulatory arena, both at the state and national levels,” said David Scheer, HDDA chair and president of Inland Truck Parts Co.
Tom Stewart, President of Carolina Rim & Wheel and incoming President of CVSN said “Besides Right to Repair’s fight for access to information, there are other initiatives like education and training, best practices and a host of other challenges facing our industry that will benefit from a stronger and more focused independent channel.”
About CVSN
The Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN) was formed January 1, 2006, through a merger of the Council of Fleet Specialists (CFS) and the National Wheel and Rim Association (NWRA). CVSN is the largest association for the Independent parts and service aftermarket distributors serving the transportation industry.
With almost 100 of the top independent aftermarket distributors, operating more than 500 locations across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, CVSN is the only industry group that brings all the major players, from all affiliations, together, in one location at one time, for expanded commercial and educational opportunities. By consolidating CFS and NWRA into one strong organization, CVSN has fulfilled the industry goal of reducing meeting costs for both distributors and suppliers.
About HDDA
Heavy Duty Distribution Association (HDDA) is a segment of the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) that serves aftermarket distributors and manufacturers of parts and services for heavy duty and commercial vehicles in North America.
